Breaking: INEC declares Osun election inconclusive

People’s Democratic Party candidate in Osun governorship election won with the poll.

But the figure he got was not enough to earn Adeleke outright win. Votes cancelled far exceeded the difference between the Adeleke and APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

That eventually led to the poll being declared inconclusive.

K1, Obesere at war over Ambode

Fuji music exponent, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere,PK1st, has lampooned fellow fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde a.k.a K1 De Ultimate, over his stance on the current crisis that has engulfed ruling APC in Lagos State, describing him as an ingrate who does not always care to bite the fingers that fed him.

Obesere spoke against the backdrop of the recent video released by K1 De Ultimate on Instagram, where he shared his opinion on the best governors Lagos State has ever had, omitting the name of incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, further stoking the raging fire of controversy that Ambode truly may have fallen out of favour among the stalwarts of the party ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election in the State. The relationship between the two musicians over the years has not been as cordial as music fans all over the world will expect it to be, while so many questions have been asked to ascertain the cause of their frequent feuds. Speaking on the latest development in a statement made available to E-daily, Alhaji Obesere was quick to place it on record that while he is having nothing personal against his colleague, he is always averse to his uncharitable conduct and dishonest attitude, adding the latest preposterous position and outburst against Ambode in his trying period is a clear testimony that ‘Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde is nothing but a serial betrayal.’He bares it all by going down memory lane: “I want to state clearly that I have nothing personal against Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde but looking back to some of his conducts and attitude over the years, I think I have been proven right to stay away from dealing with him. I don’t like to deal with an ingrate who doesn’t care to bite the fingers that once fed him, “he began defiantly.

"As musicians, we are people’s property and I am free to support anybody that I like but I won’t come out in the open to smear the character of anybody – not to talk of someone I have benefited from in one way or the other. What is happening in Lagos State is pure political issue and should be left to the politicians to resolve. For, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde to suddenly change gears because of the travails of Governor Ambode is not only ungodly, slanderous and disrespectful, but it shows that he is a real traitor. ““You will recall that the same man betrayed our legend in the Fuji Music industry, late Alhaji Ayinde Barrister some years back. He came out in the open to deny the man who was his benefactor and called him all sorts of names. He once rubbished another amongst our highly respected seniors in the business, Alhaji Ayinla Kollington, and I can go on and on to relay some of his past ignoble actions that portrayed him as someone who cannot be trusted. And that exactly has been the crux of our disagreements overtimes. The latest one against Governor Ambode is quite unfortunate and as a stakeholder and someone who doesn’t love to hide his feelings, I think we should all let him know that, what comes around, goes around and what is not good is not good. As public figure s and role models, we should not be seen as people of questionable character who are always running to where our pockets will be served,” a highly disenchanted singer popularly known as PK1st posited.

Party control: Kwankwaso on warpath with Shekarau, Wali, others

One month after the defection of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), crisis over the control of Kano PDP has started brewing in the state chapter of the party, Daily Trust on Sunday can report. The battle over the control of the soul of the party is raging between Senator Kwankwaso on one hand and some of the party’s bigwigs in the state, comprising of former Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Ambassador Aminu Wali, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, among other stakeholders, on the other hand. When Kwankwaso rejoined the PDP recently, Shekarau expressed fears about the latter’s readiness to allow internal democracy and peace to reign in the party.“I hope the PDP received reformed Kwankwaso. I hope it is not the old Kwankwaso I knew,” he cautioned at the time through his media aide, Sule Ya’u Sule.“I hope he would, this time around, abide by the rules of the PDP. I hope he would not repeat what he did after he joined the APC in 2015.
.      I hope Kwankwaso is not coming to the PDP to repeat the injustice he did in 2015,” he observedWith the current development, Shekarau can be said to be living in fear as party sources said Kwankwaso was bent on taking over its control in Kano.According to a source within the party, trouble started within the party about three weeks ago when Kwankwaso made a shocking revelation at a stakeholders’ meeting that the national body of the PDP had allocated to him 51 slots of elective offices at both state and national levels. The source, who also attended the meeting, said Shekarau, Wali, Gwarzo and some other stakeholders present at the meeting vehemently rejected Kwankwaso’s claims and denied any knowledge about it. Following their reactions, it was learnt, Kwankwaso walked out of the meeting and later reported the matter to the PDP headquarters.“It is unfortunate that the report of the Liyel Imoke-led committee has been thrown away by the PDP leadership in favour of Kwankwaso. If you can recall, the PDP has set up a committee under Liyel Imoke and mandated it to hamornise issues related to allocation of positions among defectors and other members of the PDP and the committee in its recommendations said it would not recommend any sharing formula, rather it advised that all states should use their peculiarity and share the positions between defectors and those they met in the party,” the source said.“
And I believe the committee’s decision is the best because each state has its own peculiarity in terms of differences among party members. Take Kano for instance, how on earth can they allocate 51 per cent to somebody that just returned to the party and share 49 per cent among the three other party elders that laboured for the party for three years and you expect peace in the state? It is not possible.”He said that was why the stakeholders rejected it when Kwankwaso tabled the issue at the meeting in Kano.Another drama took place at a PDP stakeholders meeting that was held last week in Abuja when the issue was brought up, another source told Daily Trust on Sunday. Again, Wali, Shekarau and Gwarzo vehemently rejected the idea and insisted that Kwankwaso must not be rated above other stakeholders.Daily Trust on Sunday observed that the political atmosphere within the PDP is taking a new twist, with Shekarau, Wali and Gawrzo’s camp strategising to retain their position as shakers and movers of the PDP in the state, while Kwanwkaso on the other hand is struggling to take over the control of the party ahead of the conduct of the 2019 general elections. The three PDP bigwigs had, last week, summoned a stakeholders’ meeting in their efforts to halt Kwankwaso’s plan of taking over the party.A reliable source confirmed to our correspondent that it was decided at the meeting that the PDP at ward, local and state levels should stop registering members of the Kwankwasiyya group into the PDP pending the determination of the controversial allocation of 51 per cent slots to Kwankwaso. It was gathered that thousands of supporters of the three politicians also threatened to leave the party if Kwankwaso was allowed to take over its control in Kano.
Unless something concrete is done to salvage the situation, the brewing crisis may divide the party before the next general elections. When contacted on phone for comment, the former education minister’s spokesman described the recent political development in Kano PDP as unfortunate, lamenting that Kwankwaso had started implementing his plans to take over the party. He said, “Unfortunately, Kwankwaso has started showing to the people that he is still the same person we knew.“If you give Kwankwaso 51 per cent slots of positions, obviously he takes over the control by having the larger share. The remaining 49 per cent is going to be shared among Shekarau, Wali and Gwarzo. Let’s say Malam Shekarau will get 29 per cent, Wali and Gwarzo 10 each, obviously Kwankwaso is having upper hands. And knowing who Kwankwaso is, he will control the party according to his own wishes. He will determine everything.“I can assure you that the Kwankwasiyya people will get what they want. He did this when he was in the APC, and if care is not taken, he will now repeat the same thing in the PDP. Kwankwaso denied members of the APC Legacy everything. If you were not a member of Kwankwasiyya you would not get anything. This is the same thing he wants repeated in the PDP today. If you are not a member of the Kwankwasiyya group he will never consider you. I said earlier when he returned to the PDP that we hoped we received a reformed Kwanwkaso. Now, he has vindicated; he is not reformed. Unfortunately, the PDP national body is more disposed to Kwankwaso than Shekarau, Wali and Gwarzo.“
We are waiting for an official communication from the national body of the PDP. We only read its decision on the pages of the newspapers, so we are waiting for the PDP to communicate to us officially, upon which we will take the issue to our people to decide for the next line of action we should take.”However, Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, Kwankwaso’s political ally, disputed the rumour that his boss was trying to take over the PDP in Kano, noting that people had misunderstood the whole issue.Doguwa said: “I was part of the four meetings that were held, and there was no resistance on the part of Shekarau, Wali and Gwarzo. Kwankwaso did not attend the meeting at all. What actually happened was that when the issue of 51 per cent was raised at the meeting, the three stakeholders inquired about the authenticity or otherwise of the claims, and that’s all.”On the stoppage of registering members of Kwankwasiyya, Doguwa also dispelled the allegation, noting, “Even today (yesterday), some members of Kwanwkasiyya will collect their membership cards in Rimingado Local Government Area of the State. I am not aware of any order to stop the registration of our members into the PDP. There is nothing like that to the best of my knowledge.”

Ex-Lagos CPC gubernatorial candidate, Mumuni under pressure to contest against Tinubu

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Ambassador Abayomi Mumuni is under pressure to declare his intention to contest the Lagos Central Senatorial District against Senator Oluremi Tinubu.Though Senator Tinubu has not formally declared her intention to return to the upper chamber, many of her supporters, including some party leaders, have endorsed her re-election bid for the third term. The decision, our correspondent gathered, has however been condemned by Mumuni, who vowed to contest against Tinubu during the state primary election of the APC later this year.It would be recalled that the 2011 gubernatorial candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) had bemoaned the unilateral decision of some of the APC party leaders to endorse Tinubu’s 3rd term bid “at the expense of other interested party members”.
Mumuni, while speaking on the purported endorsement, accused the leadership of the defunct ACN in the current ruling party of not respecting the merger which they signed before the 2015 general elections. He also alleged that members of the defunct CPC in Lagos have been marginalised and abandoned at the State and National levels.Mumuni said he believes he could have defeated Senator Tinubu in 2011 if he had not jettisoned the senatorial ticket for the gubernatorial slot in the interest of President Buhari. He said, “But I changed my intention because there was no governorship candidate for the defunct CPC in the South West, except Barrister Shittu in Oyo State. With me, we were the only two CPC gubernatorial candidates that supported President Buhari’s bid to become Nigeria’s President. My withdrawal from the senatorial election gave Asiwaju’s wife an edge in the election.“My mandate has always been the Lagos Central Senatorial District, which is my constituency. I am a son of the soil. I contested against Obanikoro and Ade Dosumu in 2003 and 2007. Come 2019, there are no two ways to it, I am going to contest against her and I will defeat her in the primaries.
Even if I don’t get the ticket, we will go back to CPC and I will still defeat her.”It was gathered that since Mumuni expressed his readiness to challenge Senator Tinubu, he (Mumuni) has been under pressure by his supporters to declare his ambition and start campaigning in earnest for the 2019 general elections.A source at one of the meetings said some party bigwigs in the state have been begging him (Mumuni) to run against Tinubu.Mumuni, in one of the meetings in Lagos, was also reportedly advised to leave the party if he does not win the primary election against Tinubu. They assured him of their unwavering support to wrestle power from Tinubu in her bid to seek the third term at the Senate. The source said, “Mumuni is a phenomenon. His influence cuts cross Nigeria, and it is certain he would defeat Senator Tinubu at the primaries. If he doesn’t get the ticket, we will support him to wherever he goes. He is our leader and we are ready to return to our former party, CPC once he is ready.“Some of his South-South friends have volunteered to sponsor the printing of no fewer than 250 big banners, to be mounted across the 5 local governments, 8 LCDAs and 170 wards in Lagos Central, in preparation for Mumuni’s declaration”, an APC chieftain and former CPC member disclosed.
